Build it and they will come: Noah’s Ark

If you have ever driven down Interstate 68 in western Maryland, you have likely seen the unfinished Noah’s Ark.

If you have ever driven down Interstate 68 in western Maryland, you have likely seen the unfinished Noah’s Ark. In the 30-plus years I have traveled that highway, it has changed little, if at all.

The church behind this modern-day Ark describes it as “a sign to the world of God’s love and the soon return of Jesus.” The structure is intended to match the dimensions of the biblical Noah’s Ark. However, its completion remains uncertain, as progress depends on donations.

That doesn’t look like gopher wood. But I have to admire the courage that was required to begin such a project.

Thanks for posting this, 30 years here too. Always wondered about it when passing it as a kid. Still there all these years later!

Yes I lived in Cumberland Maryland nearby and drove by this all the time. It’s not that memorable. In a way, it mocks the Bible story by its unfinished uncommitted presence. The Bible story is about perseverance and survival and this hulk portrays the opposite. Shame
