The Littleton Bridge carried County Route 12, also known as Long Drain Road, over the West Fork of Fish Creek in Littleton, Wetzel County, West Virginia.
The pin-connected Pratt through truss was built in 1893 by the Canton Bridge Company of Canton, Ohio. 1 The company had been founded the previous year by John R. Reed, a Canton native who had previously worked for the Wrought Iron Bridge Company. Under Reed, the Canton Bridge Company grew quickly and became one of the largest bridge builders in the country.
Reed left the company in 1900 and moved to Joplin, Missouri, where he worked for the rival Massillon Bridge and Structural Company, which was headquartered there. The Canton Bridge Company was later sold to the American Bridge Company but continued as a separate operation until 1921.
The Littleton Bridge was bypassed and abandoned in 2006. 1
