The Schirhart House: A Photographer’s Perspective

Sometimes, you come across an abandoned house and wonder about its history.

Sometimes, you come across an abandoned house and wonder about its history.

This Tudor Revival-style mansion, built in 1930, showcases exceptional craftsmanship inside and out, a hallmark of hand-crafted homes. Though its architecture is notable, its most remarkable feature was its last owner, Bruce Schirhart—a nurse, the owner of Villa Camillus nursing home, and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. After his passing in 2020, the property fell into neglect, though it is now owned by a neighboring greenhouse.

Rumors surround both the house and its former owner, but they remain just that—rumors. My site is not here to spread misinformation. While a good story can be entertaining, there is nothing worse than tarnishing someone’s legacy for the sake of clickbait.

Cool – I hope the new owners restore it. To the right person that house has a lot of possibilities. Thanks for the photos.
