As I drove through the winding backroads of southern Ohio, I stumbled upon an unexpected sight—a group of long abandoned fire trucks resting in the weeds at the site of a forgotten gasoline station. As I approached, I noticed one particular truck standing out from the rest, painted in a classic red-and-white livery.
Upon closer inspection, I realized that the truck was a beautiful 1955 Ford F-800, once used by the city of Vienna, West Virginia. The truck had seen its fair share of action in its prime, rushing to the scenes of fires and emergencies to save lives and property. But now, it was simply a relic of a bygone era, rusting in the overgrown brush.
As I continued my exploration, I came across another gem – a circa 1957 Ford F-800 ladder truck used by Washington Township, Ohio. This truck was undoubtedly a sight to behold during its active days, towering over buildings and providing firefighters with the tools to tackle even the most challenging blazes.
Now, however, it too was just another piece of history, resting in the weeds and slowly succumbing to the ravages of time. As I stood among the rusting hulks of once-mighty fire trucks, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia for a time when these classic trucks were a staple in the community.

We’re in Lancaster OH. Someone will want to purchase and restore those fire trucks!
I live in Parkersburg, WV right next to Vienna, WV. Where in Ohio is this located?
