Curtin Bridge

The Curtin Bridge carried WV Routes 20 and 55 over the Gauley River near Curtin, West Virginia.


The Curtin Bridge, a riveted Parker through truss, was constructed in 1931 to replace a ferry. The structure was rehabilitated in 1980 and bypassed in 2006.

    A good swimming area under and around the Curtin bridge. I recall my cousin Darrell Stacy from Steubenville, Ohio doing swan dives from the top of the bridge structure.

      They threw a lot of the construction debri into the water and it’s very unsafe now. I used to watch my mom and many others dive from the bridge.
