Sue Bennett College
Back when it wasn’t in the coldest days of the winter, I walked around the former Sue Bennett College in London, Kentucky. The college, in operation between 1897 through 1997, was affiliated with the Women’s Division of the General Board of Global Ministries, the national organization of the United Methodist Church. It began as an elementary school before becoming a two-year college.
Deerton, Michigan
Deerton, Michigan is an unincorporated community in Alger County that was founded in 1882 when the Detroit, Mackinac & Marquette Railroad constructed a station for a lumbering camp. A post office opened in 1922, and in 1926, a small school was constructed at the junction of Deerton-Onota Road. Today, not much is left in the community – most of the residences are abandoned, although the school still operates.

Linwood Public School
Linwood Public School is located in the Linwood neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio and was constructed in 1929. It was closed in 2005.

Chinn’s Mine
Located along the Kentucky River Palisades is a unique but abandoned fluorspar mine turned speakeasy.
