A Revisit to Dracula’s Castle
Housing 155,000 inmates over its 104 years of operation, the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio commanded attention. Designed by Levi T. Scofield in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, the exterior of the prison resembled the appearance of several castles in western Europe. Aptly, it received the nickname “Dracula’s Castle” for its gothic presentation.

Raceland
Growing up in Raceland, Kentucky, I knew some of the significance behind the town’s name. It was named for the “Million Dollar Oval,” a horse racing track.

While flying over the Francis Scott Key Bridge near Baltimore, Maryland for photos, I stumbled upon the abandoned Fort Carroll, an abandoned sea fort in the middle of the Patapsco River.
