McKee High School

The McKee High School is an abandoned school in McKee, Kentucky.

In 1938, the Works Progress Administration constructed the McKee High School building in McKee. In January 1967, the high school relocated to a new county-wide facility, 1 and the original complex in McKee was repurposed as the McKee Elementary School for elementary students.

In 1980, the county sought bids to build a new middle school. 2 However, after four individuals were charged with accepting kickbacks, the contract for the middle school was never awarded.

To address the need for a new elementary school, Jackson County sold $1.45 million in bonds in the spring of 1985 to fund its construction.
