West Virginia Central No. 201 – Jan. 2021
The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad, operating the Cheat Mountain Salamander excursion from Elkins to Cheat Bridge, was struck by a loaded log truck at the US Route 250 crossing at Cheat Bridge. Two passenger cars from the West Virginia Central Railroad were struck by the truck that was operating at more than 60 MPH. The driver of the truck died and only five passengers out of 67 on board were injured. The damaged West Virginia Central No. 201 is currently owned by the West Virginia Railroad Museum in Elkins.
