The Crowell-Collier Publishing Company, once the world’s largest magazine publishing house, once boasted its printing operations in Springfield, Ohio. I had several relatives who worked for that company–my paternal grandfather was plant manager for the printing plant and he was there to close the factory down. His sister, who was a "spinster" in that she never married, was in a management position on the editorial level for the magazine and divided her time between Springfield, Chicago and New York—-she was a woman who was "ahead of her time." Her name was Agnes Garrity. She was a neat lady, she died in the early 70s well up into her 90s.
