This view shows the last remnant of the Ravenswood, Spencer & Glenville Railway in Ravenswood, West Virginia. What was once the mainline now serves as a spur to Hartly Oil and Niche Polymer.

Ravenswood, Spencer & Glenville Railway

The RS&G, incorporated in 1886, linked Ravenswood and Spencer before being absorbed by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Although originally planned to extend into Calhoun, Gilmer, and Lewis counties, only the Ravenswood–Spencer section was built. The line prospered during the region’s oil and gas boom but ceased operations in 1963, with its tracks removed in 1968.

One can only speculate whether the RS&G might have survived into the 21st century had it connected to the Coal & Coke Railway farther east or to Weston.
