The Detroit House of Correction, called DeHoCo, is a former penitentiary complex near Detroit, Michigan. Initially located in the city of Detroit, the Detroit House of Correction was relocated to to Plymouth and Northville townships between 1920 and 1931 as the old “medieval” structure was considered antiquated and a fire hazard.
It was closed in 2009 for budgetary reasons, and the former prison is slated for demolition in 2016.
